The showdown of this year's Formula 1 was decided in a three cornered fight between Hamilton, Alonso and Raikkonen in the final race of the year at Interlagos, Brazil.
The race was the best race I have seen so far and Ferrari took 1-2 position with Raikkonen winning the race and the World Championship my a mere 1 point from Alonso. Hamilton had some bad luck at the start of the race and also missed a gear shift. Hamilton ended in 7th position.
But 4 hours later, the race steward were checking on the fuel samples of BMW (Heifield and Kubica) and Williams (Rosberg). If they are penalised for the fuel used Hamilton will move from 7th to 4th position which would make Hamilton the champion.
Luckily, the steward choose not to penalised the teams even though there was discrepancy in the fuel sample.
In my opinion, Raikkonen should be the world champion taking into consideration that he has the most number of wins for the year. Hamilton is still young and still have opportunity to have a shot at the championship in the coming season.

MyEarthDream.com

The Honda Racing Formula 1 Team's new 2007 car, the RA107 carries no corporate colours, no advertising and no logos other that that required by the FIA required insignia. Instead, the RA107 will feature a beautiful piece of artwork featuring our planet EARTH. The aim of using the artwork is to capitalise on Formula One's global reach to highlight a huge global problem. The RA107 also carries the URL http://www.myearthdream.com which will lead people to the site to make their pledge to change something in their lifestyle in order to help the environment.

Formula 1 Teams and Drivers
There will be a total of 11 teams competing in the 2007 Formula 1 season. Some highlights of the season are:
Here is a run down of the teams and driver for the 2007 season.
1. McLaren Mercedes

This year the McLaren Mercedes team will have the Number 1 car, thanks to the movement of 2006 Formula 1 champion, Fernando Alonso from the Renault F1 team. The team also include, long time McLaren protege, Lewis Hamilton, the first Formula 1 black drive. I would be exciting to see how this team fair for 2007 as they have been plague with reliability problems. Alonso will have to show whether he still win another World Championship in a different team.
2. Renault F1 Team
Due to the ban on tobacco advertisement, last years main sponsor, Mild Seven has been replaced by ING. The team will still be managed by Flavio Briatore. The team has retained Giancarlo Fishicella as their main driver. He will partner a new Finnish driver, Heikki Kovalainen who has been been a Renault F1 test driver since 2005.
3. Scuderia Ferrari
Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen will lead the charge for Ferrari this season. Even though Micheal Shumacher is not the drive, I am sure that he will be providing all the technical and racing advise to ensure that the team wins the 2007 Championship. In terms of sponsorship, Ferrari has lose out the Vodafone logo to McLaren. Due to the ban on tobacco, the main sponsor, Malboro will have its name in bar code format.
4. Honda F1 Racing Team
Also due to the ban on tobacco advertisement, the main sponsor of British American Tobacco, the car now have the picture of the earth painted on it. The car looks very stunning. The team has retained their 2006 drivers of Jenson Button and Ruben Barrichello.
5. BMW Sauber

I viewed this as the most improved team for 2006. The team also retains its 2006 drivers of Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica.
6. Toyota F1
The team that has the biggest budget could not produce much results for 2006 due to poor reliability of their cars. The Toyota F1 team has also retained its 2006 drivers of Ralf Schumacher and Jarno Trulli.
7. Redbull Racing
Mark Webber crossed over from the poor performance team of Williams to Redbull Racing. His partner will be the oldest Formula 1 racer, David Coulthard. DC has been trying many years to win the Formula 1 championship but without any success. My advise to him "Get out of the way old man and let the younger ones race".
8. Williams-Toyota
The team has not been performing well since BMW pulled out their engine support. Now lets see what they can do with a Toyota engine on board their chassis. The team has retained Nico Rosberg and has bring our Alexander Wurz from their testing stable.
9. Toro Rosso
The sister team to Redbull Racing has not been producing much results for 2006 but they managed to put in some exciting acrobatic performance from their tumbling and accidents. They wll be using a V8 Ferrari engine for 2007. The drivers of the team are Vitantonio Liuzzi and Scott Speed.
10. Spyker F1 Ferrari

This is a totally new team. Its a Dutch consortium led by specialist car builder Spyker who took over from Midlands Racing (they took over the Jordan GP Team) using a Ferrari engine. Lets see how they perform for 2007 with their drivers Christijan Albers and Adrian Sutil.
11. Super Augri F1

The team that debuted in 2006 did not show much results. The team will be using Honda engine again. The team's drivers are Takuma Sato and Anthony Davidson who was promoted from a Honda F1 test driver to a full time driver.
- Making their debut for the 2007 season are Lewis Hamilton (McLaren), Heikki Kovalainen (Renault), Adrain Sutil (Spyker)
- New team, Spkker where they have recruited a Malaysian, Fairuz Fauzy as one of their test drivers.

Some interesting facts about Formula 1 Car
The Formula 1 season will start off with the Australian Grand Prix on 18 March 2007. This time around we would be seeing my hero Micheal Schumacher who has since retired gracefully from Formula 1 last year. In his place in Ferrari, we will have Felipe Massa and the iceman Kimi Raikkonnen.
Before we start on talking about the teams and the racers here are some interesting facts about Formula 1 car:
'F1' is not only just 'F1'
F1 car is made up of 80,000 components, if it were assembled 99.9% correctly; it would still start the race with 80 things wrong!
When an F1 driver hits the brakes on his car he experiences retardation or deceleration comparable to a regular car driving through a BRICK wall at 300kmph!!!
F1 car can go from 0 to 160 kph AND back to 0 in FOUR seconds!!!!!!!
F1 car engines last only for about 2 hours of racing mostly before blowing up on the other hand we expect our engines to last us for a decent 20yrs on an average and they quite faithfully DO....that's the extent to which the engines r pushed to perform...

An average F1 driver looses about 4kgs of weight after just one race due to the prolonged exposure to high G forces and temperatures for little over an hour (Yeah that's right!!!)
At 550kg a F1 car is less than half the weight of a Mini.

To give you an idea of just how important aerodynamic design and added down force can be, small planes can take off at slower speeds than F1 cars travel on the track.
Without aerodynamic down force, high-performance racing cars have sufficient power to produce wheel spin and loss of control at 160 kph. They usually race at over 300 kph.

In a street course race like the Monaco grand prix, the down force provides enough suction to lift manhole covers. Before the race all of the manhole covers on the streets have to be welded down to prevent this from happening!
The refuelers used in F1 can supply 12 liters of fuel per second. This means it would take just 4 seconds to fill the tank of an average 50 liter family car. They use the same refueling rigs used on US military helicopters today.

TOP F1 pit crews can refuel and change tyres in around 3 seconds. It took me 8 sec to read above point
During the race the tyres lose weight! Each tyre loses about 0.5 kg in weight due to wear.

Normal tyres last 60 000 - 100 000 km. Racing tyres are designed to last 90 - 120 km.
A dry-weather F1 tyre reaches peak operating performance (best grip) when tread temperature is between 900C and 1200C.(Water boils boils at 100C remember) At top speed, F1 tyres rotate 50 times a second.
