I am pleased with the tripod which has everything a tripod can offer"
- Mounting plates (2 pieces) instead of the old screw on type mounting
- Long extend able legs (solid too)
- A weight hook in the middle of the tripod to make the tripod steadier
- The tripod legs can be screwed up to make available metals studs
- A very mobile ball joint that links the mounting plates to the tripod to enable easily tilting of the camera.
After mounting the camera on the tripod, I managed to snap a sequence of photos using my new ML-L3 Wireless (Infra Red) Remote Control. Well, you will soon see some night scene photos after this.

Do not expect too much on the VR lens. I am using an IS (Image Stabilizer) on my 400d, it is good but nothing beats a tripod. As it only helps up to 3 stop lower. So far I tested out my IS in my Melbourne trip, its ok. I did not bring along my Tripod but I uses some technique that I learn along the way. Lean along anything be it a pole, a bench seat, you see the differrence....
Oh another trick is that I substitute the remote by using the timer, hahaha safe some money. However this is only good when you are using tripod. And be sure to do one thing, close the viewfinder by your hand as light going to the viewfinder will cause wrong exposure metering or close it with the cap that is found in the camera strap. I saw some night photos that you posted already, more please for us to enjoy...
Soo, thanks for the compliments and advise. More photos from my Putrajaya trip will be posted soon. I like all the photos posted above and I printed out all of them at 5R size today.
If you was in KL this week end why not join me at Berjaya Time Square to shoot models at the KL Fashion Week.
